Child labor during the industrial revolution was tough on kids as it still is now. Before the factory act children would work as much as 19 hours a day with a one hour break. During the industrial revolution the children would often work in factories with big machines that were dangerous and would often injure or even kill young children in the factories. After the children were injured they didn't have any medical help. So tons of children and adults died from infections and diseases. Some of the children don't get to eat or drink all day because they don't get paid enough for all of their work.
In modern day child labor is a lot less dangerous although it is still very dangerous. This is due in part of the fact that there are more safety codes and that more jobs can be automated and that can replace the jobs the children can do. Also nowadays people are in general more educated and know when they are being ripped off. |
